Upgrading to 3.3.3

Post by sysadm »

Going through the drill of updating the phpbb3 package (this bulletin board software), the process got stuck when attempting to execute the update process. Reading the support forum, there appears to be issues with the new version, therefore, I intend to keep the version at 3.3.2 until the next release.

I tried all methods of going to v3.3.3 - the auto update method, changed files only, and full re-install (without config.php), but the process won't proceed from the update.

At first, I was getting a "time out" error, but now getting just locked up when updating the files. By renaming the install folder, I get back to the current version, which seems to be functioning okay.

Any input on this would be welcome! :)

Finally able to upgrade by deleting the install-config.php and io-lock-lock files in /store folder and removing the /install folder from /cache folder. Re-downloaded the changed files only and FTPd them to the server with "update all" checked. Ran through the update process which issued an information message and gave me the option to update database only, which I did. After removing the install folder from the root of the forum, it works like a champ!

Whew!
